J.D. Power 2024 Vehicle Dependability Study – Cars Are Getting Worse

J.D. Power recently released its 2024 Vehicle Dependability Study. It is based on responses from owners of vehicles manufactured in 2021 – the vehicles were three years old at the time of the study.

Two main findings were that the overall quality of vehicles has declined - probably due to supply chain issues and COVID disruptions. The other finding was that Toyota, using its world-famous Toyota Production System, was ranked at the top for quality in most categories.

JD Power results indicate a decline in long-term vehicle dependability. And the increased levels of problems affected almost two-thirds of the brands in the study. So if you bought a car in 2021, there is a 2 in 3 chance that your vehicle may have been one of those brands that showed increased problems.

At Doral’s Auto Repair in San Leandro, we view these findings with sadness, but it also underscores our belief in preventive maintenance and regular service. As many brands have become more unreliable, it’s even more important to ensure that your vehicle is brought in regularly to follow the manufacturer-recommended service schedule.

At our San Leandro auto care facility, we not only follow manufacturer’s inspection recommendations but with every service and repair we also provide your vehicle with a free digital vehicle inspection that checks areas that, in our experience, are trouble-prone. This allows us to catch developing problems early before they result in expensive repairs.

When performing repairs, we rely on the skills of our nationally ASE-certified technicians, along with high-quality parts. This allows us to offer 36 36-month / 36,000-mile warranty on parts and labor.

So when your vehicle needs a checkup, give us a call.
